Conducted Visits to Five of the Ten Zone 2 Regions
2024 started with lots of activity around the Zone. I conducted visits at 5 of 10 Zone 2 Regions, conducted the Zone President’s meeting and held the VIR Club Race.
January 10th — Attended the Delaware Region Checker’s Diner in downtown Wilmington, DE. The well attended event include a tour of the owner’s classic car collection. It’s clear he needs more room for his cars!
January 20th — Attended the Central PA Region holiday party in York, PA. The dinner included a fun casino night that generated a lot of competition to use winnings to “buy” Porsche swag.
February 3 — Attended the Shenandoah Region’s New Member and Volunteer Planning Meeting. This was a unique way to both gather new members and introduce them to the schedule of events for the year. Members signed up to support events throughout the year before leaving the meeting. Lunch was provided by the Region
February 10 — Attended the First Settlers Region monthly breakfast in Chesapeake, VA.
February 16-17 — Attended the PCA National Winter Board Meeting at the Hyatt Regency/Los Angeles Airport. The weekend included a very special tour of the Singer manufacturing facility. Some of the Zone Reps took advantage of the time in Los Angeles to tour the Petersen Automotive Museum that still included the Porsche exhibit.
February 24 — Held the Zone 2 President’s meeting in Harrisonburg, VA. Seven of ten Regions were represented. Our host was Cole Scrogham who opened his Madison Automotive Apprentice Facility for the meeting.
March 9 — Attended the Potomac Region Awards and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. It was a packed house full of enthusiastic members congratulating their key volunteers for their dedication. Lots of fun and good food at Maggiano’s Tysons Corner, VA
March 22-24 — Held the Zone 2 Club Race at VIR. The weekend was fun and full of exciting race but the car count was the lowest in over 15 years. The registration numbers, and revenue, was down about 25% compared to 2023. This will be the last VIR race hosted by Zone 2 as the process of unincorporation continues. The Carolina’s Region has indicated interest to host the race in the future but no decisions have been made.
