2022 Q3
Region Anniversaries, a Three-Region Joint Event, and Rock the Summit
July started with an extended vacation to Nova Scotia after attending Porsche Parade in the Poconos. The Cayman makes a great road trip machine!
Zone 2 celebrated several anniversaries during this quarter. Pocono Region was July 17th, Shenandoah Region was August 6th, Reisentoter Region was August 24th, Potomac Region was September 13th, and the Central Pennsylvania Region was September 15th.
Attended the PCA Board Meeting on Monday, July 18th.
Attended the First Settlers Region New Member’s meeting on August 6th which was planned in a unique fashion. The Region stretches from Virginia Beach to west of Richmond. So the driving tours started at the respective Porsche dealerships at either end of the Region to “meet in the middle” at a brewery in Williamsburg. The tours included a trip on the Jamestown ferry! Over 150 members participated in this excellent event.
Attended a three Region joint event in Charlottsville affectionately called the “Dead President’s Tour”. Shenandoah Region, Potomac Region, and First Settlers Region met at the Boar’s Head Inn for a Friday dinner, followed by a Saturday tour and visit to Monticello; the former home of Thomas Jefferson. The weekend was capped off with a dinner on Saturday night. This is a very well coordinated event with planning support and participation from each Region.
Supported the Porsche Hospitality Tent and Corral at the IMSA race at VIR. The volunteers came from several Zone 2 and Zone 3 Regions who pitched in to support a great event. The Corral was full and over 850 PCA members came though the hospitality tent! The Pfaff Porsche team won the Sunday race to cap off a great race weekend. Hat’s off to Lynn Friedman for yet another homerun event!
Attended the “Rock the Summit” Club Race at Summit Point hosted by the Potomac Region on September 16-18th. This race is the longest running club race and is run by an experienced core group of volunteers. The camaraderie was obvious and everyone from volunteers to the racers had a good time. Donna Amico, the race co-chair, explained the racer numbers were concerningly low until a few weeks before the event. The financial success of a club race is not guaranteed.
